This well known vehicle stemmed from the final LNER fish van design. BR built over 1,000 of them. At first they had oil axle boxes, but for long distance work many were given roller bearings. The blue spot identified these vans gave them their nickname. After fish service many were converted to Parcels Vans (SPV) and lasted into the 1980s.
