GWR Macaw B Bogie Bolster BR Bogie Bolster C by James Date Added: Monday 07 September, 2009
GWR Macaw B Bogie Bolster BR Bogie Bolster C Another great kit from Jim. He says the sides are very long to bend, but that is the only hard part about this kit. I didn't have bending bars long enough, so bent it bit by bit using a shorter bar on one end, then move it to the other etc. Bogies are soldered together using 145 solder which is fine as long as you are careful, reduce the iron temperature down to say 200, and tin the mating surfaces before bringing them together. The bulk of the casting prevents melting. It looks superb once suit..

Southern Railway 24 Ton Brake Van by James Date Added: Monday 07 September, 2009
Southern Railway 24 Ton Brake Van This kit goes together really well and makes into a very nice model. The way the steps, step hangers and solebars are etched in one piece is really clever, although fiddly to bend into the right shape. Side cutter for plastic by Richard Date Added: Thursday 03 September, 2009
Side cutter for plastic I purchased a pair of these a few years ago and now on my second pair. They stay sharp and cut true for a long time, and I use mine most days. If you only model a little they should last you years!! Buy two pairs one for plastic and one for etch and strip and you're laughing. Warning they are not too happy at cutting hard wire without marking the cutting edge!

Side cutter for plastic by James Date Added: Friday 21 August, 2009
Side cutter for plastic I was first introduced to these cutters by Carl Legg (CPL products) at a Gauge 0 Guild show one year. The cutters are simply brilliant. They balance nicely in the hand, cut brass parts out of etched sheets or bits off a plastic sprue with ease and minimal distortion. Don't use them on spring or hard wire though, as you'll damage the cutting edge. They are fine on brass wire such as you get in many kits. I recommended them to other members of my club, and I've received nothing but favourable feed..
